Shepherd's Heart 8/15/25
Earlier this week at the Good Shepherd Summit, I shared a bit of my story. As a young college student at a Christian university, I was required to take a Bible class. It was in that class that God began to reshape the entire trajectory of my life. Up until then, I hadn’t truly grasped how vast God is, the depth of Christian history, or the reliability of Scripture. But that one class changed everything. Perhaps you can look back on your own life and recall a similar moment—a path-shifting experience in which it was surely God at work!
As we look ahead to the coming fall, I’m thrilled to share two incredible opportunities for adults in our church to experience that kind of change: more connection, a stronger sense of belonging, spiritual growth, and discipleship.
Theology and Formation Cohorts begin September 18. This is a year-long commitment made up of three 8-week sessions that end in May. These sessions will build on one another, creating space not just for learning, but for transformation. We’ll explore how to study Scripture, key theological concepts, and church history—but more importantly, we’ll grow in our faith and deepen our relationship with God. If you’ve felt stagnant or unsure of your next step, this may be just what you need. Each week, we’ll engage with a new topic, share in meaningful group discussions, and invite the Holy Spirit to help move what we’re learning from our heads to our hearts. No exams, no workbooks—just rich, intentional time together. I truly believe that on the other side of these Cohorts, we’ll find ourselves serving differently, becoming better neighbors, more intentional friends, spouses, and parents, and seeing more clearly the part each of us plays in God’s unfolding story. Register HERE by September 4 to join this year’s Cohorts.
I’m excited that our doors will be open on Monday evenings this fall for Community Nights, running from September 8 through December 8. Community Nights will be a time to connect, grow, and experience Christian community in meaningful ways. We’ll offer a variety of care groups, Bible and book studies, and other short-term groups—changing throughout the year to meet different needs and interests. Check our website regularly for updated group offerings! Each Monday, Community Nights will begin at 6:15pm with a brief “Encouragement Moment” for everyone, followed by groups starting at 6:30pm. You’re also welcome to simply come and enjoy the space—read a book, chat with a friend, or catch up on homework in a warm and welcoming environment. Some groups will require registration, which you can do HERE.
Friends, I truly believe God is moving in and through us. Cohorts and Community Nights will offer new ways for adults to engage in the life of the church. As we step into this next season—with Cohorts and Community Nights as new rhythms—I’m hopeful. I look forward to hearing stories about how God is shifting our paths and shaping our hearts to be more like His as we connect in fresh and purposeful ways this fall!
Blessings,
Pastor Pamela
