Shepherd's Heart 07/10/26
Next week, Vacation Bible School (VBS) will turn Good Shepherd into “Rainforest Falls.” Here’s a glimpse …
- 469 kids (aged 3-10) of ALL abilities!
- 257 volunteers (aged 11-88!)
- 3000+ snacks (goldfish, applesauce, pretzels, raisins, deconstructed s’mores, and birthday cake!)
- 5 days (10 sessions: 2 per day from 9:00-12:00 and 1:30-4:30)
- 1000+ vines creating a Rainforest Falls” experience at Good Shepherd
I love numbers as much as the next person (truthfully, probably more); and while these achievements are fun to celebrate, the most important number of all is that next week at VBS, all of our energy will be focused on worshipping, imagining, praising, learning about, giving back to, thanking, celebrating, and loving our ONE true God!
Our theme verse for the week is Psalm 103:22 … “Praise the Lord, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the Lord.” And our five daily themes will be:
- God is our creator (Wow, God!)
- God knows everything (Wow, God!)
- God is our safe place (Wow, God!)
- God is love (Wow, God!)
- God is forever (Wow, God!)
Can I get an “Amen?” I’m not exaggerating when I say that VBS is my favorite week of the year at Good Shepherd! It’s loud, and it’s fun, and it borders on being out of control at times, but IT IS AWESOME!
If you’re not one of the parents dropping off kids or one of the 257 volunteers coming to serve (and have never otherwise been here to experience VBS), all I can say is, “you think you know what it’s like, but you don’t.”
Come and experience it! If you want to serve, we’ll find a place for you! If you just want a taste, come at the beginning (8:45 or 1:15) or end (11:45 or 4:15) to see the hundreds of smiling faces coming and going. Just come and be a part of an amazing week!
