Good Shepherd Family,
At our Council meeting last night, Council completed its annual process of prayerful
discernment for officers for the coming year. I’m pleased to share that Nancy Wiersum will
serve as Council President, I have been discerned to serve as Vice President, Paul Sand will serve as Treasurer, and Kristin Larson will serve as Secretary.
As I prepare to hand the role of President to Nancy, I find myself mostly feeling grateful.
Serving as your Council President has been an incredible privilege. Over the past couple of
years, I have had the opportunity to see our church from a perspective that most people don’t always get to see; the countless hours given by volunteers, the care and dedication of our pastors and staff, the thoughtful conversations of Council members, and, most importantly, the many ways God continues to work through this congregation.
Church leadership is not always simple. There are decisions to make, difficult questions to ask, opportunities to discern, and occasionally moments when the right path forward isn't
immediately obvious. But throughout my time as President, I have continually been reminded that Good Shepherd is filled with people who deeply love Jesus, care about this church, and want to see ministry thrive.
That makes me especially excited to pass the reins to Nancy. I have had the privilege of serving alongside her on Council and know the thoughtfulness, wisdom, and genuine care she brings to the table. I have tremendous confidence in her leadership and am looking forward to supporting her as Vice President alongside Paul, Kristin, and the rest of Council.
There is a lot to be excited about in the year ahead. Good Shepherd continues to grow and
change, we are continuing important conversations about our future and where God may be calling us next, and we will find new ways to live out our mission of inviting everyone to walk together in the calling of Christ for a life of eternal impact.
Thank you for the trust you have placed in me while I have served as President. Thank you to the Council members who have served alongside me, to our pastors and staff for their
partnership, and to all of you who continue to pray for and participate in the ministry of Good Shepherd. Please join me in praying for Nancy, Paul, Kristin, our entire Council, our pastors and staff, and for all that God has ahead for Good Shepherd.
