Dale Gustafson

2024 - 2025 Council Treasurer
2023-2026
My wife (Glenda) and I and have 2 grown children; Kandice and Cody, and two grandkids. I currently am a National Account Manager in the Retail Petroleum Industry. Passion, hard work, communication, & commitment are my gifts. I believe God has called me to serve on Church Council because of these. The heart of spiritual leadership requires us to discern; to listen deeply and to recognize the Spirit of God within us to represent those in the Good Shepherd community, and I am up for the call.

I have been an active member at Good Shepherd for 15 years and believe only God knows the plan! It is up to us to seek, to listen, and to act. I have listened and heard his call to serve and support the Good Shepherd ministry in a variety of ways. As the lay director for Men’s CRHP, this ramped up my strength in faith and developed fellowships that can’t be matched; volunteering again to help another CRHP weekend. I have served at numerous church events like Feed the Need and Rebuilding Together Aurora. My passion to help others inspired me to run with Good Shepherd’s Marathon teams, to go on a mission to Honduras, and provide scholarships for underprivileged students. I also spearheaded the paint project of the new facility at Good Shepherd. I devoted countless hours painting and organizing a group of individuals who have huge hearts of service. Prior to joining Good Shepherd, I was an active member of the trustees at Bethany Lutheran Church. I was responsible for the overall maintenance of the church and school grounds while meeting regularly with the pastors to support church activities.

As a Good Shepherd Council member, I will utilize many important business-oriented strengths. I promise to lead the congregation with efficiency, hard-work, passion, determination, and open-mindedness. I believe the Good Shepherd Council needs to be counted on to be a body of individuals that will get things done in a timely manner. They should be willing to work hard. They should be able to determine what is right for the congregation by listening to member’s input. My goal-oriented focus will not lose sight what is important to God for our church. I know it is not about me; it’s about helping others develop a personal relationship with God. I want to help Good Shepherd do that for everyone. I want to walk with my brothers and sisters in Christ and make a difference for everyone impacted by the servant heart of Good Shepherd. According to Acts 2:42-47, we must connect with other Christ followers to have an eternal impact on others. I believe this! Two mornings a week I am fed by the word by being a leader and a member of two men’s bible studies. Our vibrant conversations, rooted in faith, and a deep connection for doing what is right, has helped my spiritual growth and fellowship skills.

I believe that this Church is created by God, in Christ, and will empower the Holy Spirit to work within and through me to proclaim His word through a life of prayer, praise, thanksgiving, witness, service and fellowship. My Vision for Good Shepherd is to move the community of believers in the right direction. This can only happen when leadership is consistent, always questioning, and open to change. I believe in being a good financial steward and I feel that the church has a fiscal responsibility to strive to meet these same objectives. The growths of ministries, such as Financial Peace University, are invaluable for families of believers. I want to continue to commit my personal gifts of the Spirit for a better life together with Christ at Good Shepherd while serving on council. I subscribe to proclaim the Gospel of Christ by preserving and transmitting the Gospel faithfully to our current and future Good Shepherd families. I want to carry out Christ’s commission make an eternal impact on those around me at Good Shepherd. If I am chosen to serve, I will display a commitment second to none. It will not only show my love for God but His love for all members of our Good Shepherd Family.

As a church member, I will approach and seek guidance and direction for our church through Prayer! In Jeremiah 33.3, God Promised, “ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets…about things to come.” These secrets are Gods will, wisdom, and spiritual understanding. I will designate a time to pray to help me hear the Holy Spirit and listen to the direction he wants Good Shepherd to go. I will spend time with God’s Word and apply His Word to make the “right decision” for our church. I also believe in the power of many. I will seek Godly Council from others through conversations and sifting through data to understand the direction the members want the church to go. I am a planner and will help Council develop a strategic plan that reflects our values, defines our mission, assists in decision making, prioritizes collectiveness, and is strategic financially and spiritually. Finally, I will put all my trust in God, I know that he will show Good Shepherd the right path to follow. May God Bless you all!
