I was blessed to be baptized as an infant and grew up going to Sunday School and church. My Mother was my first spiritual leader and now my husband Ken and I share a strong faith. Our family joined Good Shepherd in 1998; our adult children, Ben and Kat, were confirmed here. I’ve discovered the more I learn, the more God reveals there is to learn. My faith is my top priority and is nurtured through daily devotions with Scripture, weekly services (alternating between traditional and contemporary), service to Him, and regular attendance in a long-term Life Group.

I have been privileged to serve our Lord in numerous ways including: Good Shepherd Church Council 2002-2005 (as Vice President and Secretary); CoChair of the ELCA Study Group; Communications/Community Relations (served on the Communication Director selection team, provided press contacts, wrote press releases, and content for the website); Youth Ministry Advisory Committee; New Member Luncheon Chair; Growth Group Leader; VBS Children’s Snack & Hospitality Room Chair; Local mission volunteer; coffee service ministry.

I believe this is truly an exciting and inspiring time in the life of Good Shepherd. God has called us to “go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19) and equips us to do so. Ultimately, we want everyone to know about Jesus and the promise of eternity.

The Forward initiative is giving the church and its people a chance to carry out that mission. From growing disciples to serving our neighbors to positively impacting our world, sharing God’s grace and goodness is permeating our lives and others.

Professionally, I served as Executive Vice President of Advancement at Loaves & Fishes Community Services, the largest food pantry in Illinois. I led the team responsible for income, marketing & communications, and a multitude of strategic partnerships. Since retiring, I am providing leadership in an advisory role for nonprofits. Prior senior positions also inform my thinking and leadership strategy. However, I never allow earthly circumstances to be the primary focus in my service to Him.

I completed Experiencing God several years ago, a study that was life changing for me. Not only did it lead me to fully submit myself to our Savior, but I learned a foundational process for Spirit-led decision making. This involves continual prayer, time in Scripture, worship, and fellowship with other Christians. I try to be in a constant flow of Holy messaging that makes me attuned to hearing Him. I then intently listen during our prayer time to recognize His leadings. I also pray about which scripture I should be reading at that particular time. I believe that the set of experiences and Holy interactions we each have shape decision making. I have faith that a leadership body works in community, with each discerning in their own way and coming together. Ultimately, I always strive for decisions OF Him, BY Him, and FOR Him. I am deeply humbled and honored by this nomination.

“Serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”
