Sandy and I have been deeply rooted in the Good Shepherd family for more than 30 years, and it has been a joy to walk this journey of faith together. Our daughter, Lauryn, along with her husband, Mike (married at Good Shepherd), and our three precious granddaughters (baptized at Good Shepherd)—Delaney, Emmy, and Coco—live in Charlotte, NC. We cherish every moment we share with them. Sandy, a devoted educator, is now enjoying retirement, while I serve as Vice President, Technology Risk Officer at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. In this role, I oversee management of a portfolio of risks related to physical security, safety, cybersecurity, and the resilience and integrity of key systems.
Throughout our faith journey, serving has been a cornerstone of our lives. At a previous congregation, I served two terms on the church council and led the Evangelism Committee. Here at Good Shepherd, Sandy and I co-led the College Care Ministry for four years, shared in the joy of Operation Christmas Child for twelve years, and I even ventured on a mission trip to Honduras. Today, I contribute to the Safety and Security Committee and the Emergency Response Team, ensuring our church remains a place for comfortable, safe worship and service.
Our faith is at the heart of everything we do. Sandy and I are committed Christians, devoted to living out the Great Commandment and Great Commission. God's guidance has shaped our lives, leading us to serve generously—giving of our time, resources, and hearts in ways that reflect His calling. While we deeply value our fellowship at Good Shepherd, much of our ministry reaches beyond its walls through organizations like Hesed House, Feed My Starving Children, World Vision, Cherish Watoto – where extending God's love to those who need to feel it most is the focus.
I firmly believe that a church has two essential purposes: to be a place of worship where believers come together, and to empower every Christian to embrace their unique calling in spreading the Good News. God has richly blessed Good Shepherd from its inception, and I have no doubt He will continue to lead us forward in His vision. However, I believe there is an even greater richness in His plan for us than we currently grasp, and it is up to us — collectively as a congregation—to seek His wisdom, discern His will, and move forward together in faith. When we all listen deeply to the Holy Spirit, we will find the path in harmony with God’s great vision for us.
