Shepherd's Heart 10/18/24

Ministry, like life, ebbs and flows…through quiet and busy times, some that require hard work, and others that allow us to pause and celebrate what God is doing. The holidays, VBS (Vacation Bible School), and mission trips are all examples of the ebbing and flowing in my life: we work so hard to prepare and are then rewarded with a front seat to see God do what only He can do!

Our FORWARD initiative has been building to this for me. Already we’ve had Community Gatherings attended by several hundred of you, we’re two weeks into a powerful sermon series, new Lifegroups have formed (and existing groups have refocused their conversations), I see people wearing their FORWARD t-shirts and bringing their booklets back to church each week…I can feel the momentum building! It is both inspiring and humbling to see how much you love Jesus and Good Shepherd!

In a little more than a week, we’ll have our first opportunity at the Advanced Commitment Night to make a prayerful commitment to God to use our financial resources to help further His kingdom through Good Shepherd. The event will be special, and I can’t wait! I’ve heard people say that they remember our last commitment experience in 2008 – recalling details like what they were wearing and whom they were with on that Spirit-filled evening. I hope you’ll consider joining us on October 27th, but if you’re not quite ready, you’ll have more opportunities to make your commitment leading up to November 24th when we’ll reveal the resources that God intends to bring to Good Shepherd. What an exciting Sunday that will be, and just in time for us to return to him with a spirit of gratitude over the Thanksgiving holiday.

My encouragement to you is to find a way to get in the game. Don’t miss a Sunday (and if you can’t be in person, catch us online). Pray about what your financial commitment to God will be (and know that our goals will never be about the dollars, but rather having everyone involved so that hearts can be changed). It’s not too late to join a Lifegroup! Be on the lookout for future opportunities to celebrate and receive updates – there will be many in the coming months. The Holy Spirit is moving strong through Good Shepherd, so please pray about how it might be moving through you too!

I give thanks for you, Good Shepherd! There is no one I would rather do ministry and life with than you!

Blessings –
